Valley Championships, Nov 12th, 2010
Woodward Park, Fresno
The boys team placed third to Buchanan and Stockdale after a tough fought race. 6 of the seven boys ran faster than the previous year, and senior leader Josh Webb finished the race even though he was hobbled by a stress fracture in his fibula bone.
The Girls placed 5th, with 5 of the seven girls running personal best marks. The Lady Cougars missed a place at the State Championships by 3 points.
Tri River Conference Championships, Nov 4, 2010
Woodward Park - Fresno, CA
The Boys team step up today with a strong performance to take second place in the league championships. The Cougars finished with 44 points (5-6-7-10-16), with Josh Webb leading the way with in 16:00, and Juniors Brian Exline (16:05) and Ryan Phillips (16:14) right behind. Most surprising was the performances of Sophomores Ryan Walker (16:35) and Corey Matteson (16:56) to close the scoring for Clovis.
The girls team struggled, finishing 5th out of 6 teams. Lindsay Gray (12th, 19:41) led the team. Senior Desiree Bustamante had the lone Cougar PR when she placed 15th in 20:00.
Nike Pre Nationals, Sept. 25, 2010
Portland Meadows Golf Course, Portland Oregon
A warm day in Portland greeted the Cougars as they attacked the 5K course used for the Nike Cross Nationals. Competing in the Jim Danner Sweepstakes race, the Boys started strong, but finished in 17th in the competitive field. Ryan Phillips posted a mark of 16:14 to medal in 23rd place, and Brian Exline finished 54th in 16:37.
The girls team finished 9th in the Division 1 competition, with junior Lindsay Gray finishing in 11th place with a 20:00 effort. Ani Walker also medaled, with a 37th place effort in 20:44.
Also medaling on the day, Josh Navarro ran 19:03 to finish 30th out of 272 in the Freshman boys race, and Freshman Jennifer Buettner (20:48) had the best placing of the day for Clovis High, finishing 2nd out of 365 in the Frosh Soph girls race.
Stevenson Invitational, Sept. 18, 2010
Stevenson School, Pebble Beach, CA
The Boys team picked up its first win of the season by completing the 8 mile, 5-leg relay format in 41:46, beating host Stevenson by 16 seconds. Ryan Phillips led the way with a 7:57 anchor leg. The Girls team took second place in the Large Schools division, posting a time of 52:12. Ani Walker was the fasted Lady Cougar of the day. The girls JV team also won, posting a 55:50.
Runners of the week were Junior Becky Navarez and Sophomore Nick Blanton.
Kingsburg Invitational, Sept. 11, 2010.

The Cougars ran well on the 2.14 mile course, with Freshman Ani Walker posting the fastest girls time of the day for the squad with a 12:49. Junior Lindsay Gray finished in 12:54, and Senior Desiree Bustamante was the teams fifth runner with a 13:45. For her work last week, and her determination during the meet, Desiree was the team's Athlete of the Week.
The boys were led by Juniors Ryan Phillips (10:04) and Brian Exline (10:30), with Sophomore Ryan Walker (10:48) placing fourth on the team and posting a two mile PR after the conversion. For his effort, Ryan was named the team's male Athlete of the Week.
Scrimmage Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 v. Clovis West and Madera

The Cougars had a good day today, with the traditional scrimmage taking place over the first two miles of the CA State Meet course. The girls started off the day, finishing a close three points behind the Eagles of Clovis West, 54-57. Madera placed third with 58 points. McKenzie Poe led the Cougars with a third place finish of 13:58. Ani Walker and Lindsay Gray went 5-7, as the mostly novice team wound through the hot conditions.
The Boys followed with a very strong performance, outpacing both Clovis West and Madera, 15-52-79. The top seven boys for Clovis were spread out from 10:35 to 11:23, and were led by sub-11 minute performances from Ryan Phillips, Josh Webb, and Brian Exline.
